Troubleshooting for Vista and Later - Quick ePics:

  1. First-Time Startup: The first time you run Quick ePics (version 3.3.6 or earlier), it must be "Run As Administrator". If this step is not performed, then Windows displays the following error message when you try to start the application. (This requirement, does not apply to Quick ePics version 3.3.7 or later.)

    Unexpected Error; Quitting

Solution: Right click the Quick ePics desktop icon, then select "Run As Administrator" from the popup menu (as shown below). (This step is necessary to register the application with the operating system, and it only needs to be performed once, when the application is installed. For all subsequent startups, Quick ePics runs as a Standard User.)

    Run As Administrator

    Note:

    • If the "Run as Administrator" option is not displayed when you right click the Quick ePics desktop icon, then you will need to right click the actual Quick ePics program file using Windows Explorer. Here's the procedure:

      1. Open Windows Explorer (Click "Computer" on the Vista Start Menu).
      2. Open the Quick ePics "Program Files" folder (C:\Program Files\Quick ePics).
      3. Right click the QuickePics "Application" file (QuickePics.exe).
      4. Select "Run as Administrator" from the popup menu (as shown above).

  2. Vista Styles are not Displayed: If Vista-Styles are not displayed for Quick ePics, then here's what to do:

    Solution:

    1. Right click the Quick ePics desktop icon, then select Properties from the popup menu.

      Application Properties

    2. Click the Compatibility tab, then make sure none of the compatibility mode options are selected (as shown below).

      Vista Compatibility Tab

    Note:

    • If the "Compatibility" tab is not displayed in the Properties dialog, when you open it from the Quick ePics desktop icon, then you will need to open it by right clicking the actual Quick ePics program file using Windows Explorer. Here's the procedure:

      1. Open Windows Explorer (Click "Computer" on the Vista Start Menu).
      2. Open the Quick ePics "Program Files" folder (C:\Program Files\Quick ePics).
      3. Right click the QuickePics "Application" file (QuickePics.exe).
      4. Select "Properties" from the popup menu (as shown above).
